Otterdock — Additional Privacy Terms
Last updated: March 31, 2026
These additional privacy terms supplement the SaveTimeForFun Privacy Policy and describe data practices specific to Otterdock. Please read both documents together.
Scope
These terms apply specifically to the Otterdock macOS application. For general data practices covering all SaveTimeForFun products, refer to our brand Privacy Policy.
Local Data Storage
Otterdock stores all user data locally on your Mac. Group configurations, app paths, bundle identifiers, custom icon skins, and interface preferences are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Otterdock/ and macOS UserDefaults. This data is never uploaded to any external server.
Dock Data Access
Otterdock reads and writes macOS Dock preferences (com.apple.dock) to create and manage group folder shortcuts on your Dock. This is a standard macOS API and affects only the Dock's configuration file. Changes can be fully reverted by removing the Otterdock-created folders from your Dock.
Accessibility Permissions
Otterdock may request macOS Accessibility permission to enable the hover-to-expand feature. When granted, this permission is used solely to detect the mouse position relative to Dock items. It is not required for basic click-mode functionality, and you can use Otterdock without granting it. No accessibility data is transmitted externally.
Sparkle Update Checks
Otterdock uses Sparkle, an open-source update framework, to check for new versions. When checking for updates, Sparkle contacts our update server and may transmit your current app version and macOS version. No personal data is included in these requests. Sparkle is open-source and its code is available at sparkle-project.org.
Payment Processing
Purchases of Otterdock are processed by Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ), our merchant of record. Creem collects your name, email, billing address, and payment information to process your transaction. Otterdock itself never sees or stores your payment card details. Creem's data handling is governed by their privacy policy at creem.io/privacy.
Analytics
Otterdock uses TelemetryDeck and PostHog for anonymous product analytics to help us improve the app. TelemetryDeck collects privacy-friendly, aggregated usage signals without personal identifiers or device fingerprinting. PostHog collects anonymous event data (such as app launches, feature usage, and interaction patterns) and processes data in the US (PostHog Cloud US). No personally identifiable information, file paths, or app configurations are transmitted. You can opt out of all analytics in the app's settings.
